Sonterra Energy Report to West Travis Co. MUD No. 5
As many of you may know, Sonterra Energy sent out an alert during the recent ice storm that a problem may exist with the pressure and supply in the propane gas system in the Lake Pointe subdivision. At the January 25, 2007 meeting of the Board of Directors of West Travis Co. MUD No. 5, Jason Jones, the Vice-President of Sonterra Energy, updated West Travis Co. MUD No. 5 on the problem.
According to Mr. Jones, Sonterra Energy has a pressure monitor installed at the tank site, which alerts them if the pressure drops below a certain level. If the pressure monitor alerts Sonterra of a problem, then they send a service technician to check on the system. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning of last week, a Sonterra technician called Mr. Jones and stated that the Lake Pointe monitor was sending a low-pressure alert. At that time, Mr. Jones dispatched the technician to investigate the situation. Upon his arrival, the technician did not find any problems with any part of the system, and the operating pressure was normal. He stayed on site for approximately 1 hour to ensure there were no issues with the system. Sonterra never received any phone calls from customers reporting an outage. Their service technicians never observed any problems with the system.
One of Mr. Jones’ top priorities is to communicate with Sonterra customers when there may be an issue with the system. Due to the ice storm and his inability to drive to his office, Mr. Jones looked up a representative who is both an HOA board member and a Sonterra customer. He relayed to her that Sonterra may have a problem, and Mr. Jones asked the HOA representative to communicate with the residents about the need to conserve energy. During a potential outage situation, Sonterra normally makes this request of its customers.
After some testing, Sonterra determined that the monitor had malfunctioned. Sonterra installed a new monitor this week. The system continues to operate normally. This incident was nothing more than a false alarm due to a malfunctioned monitor.
