Minutes to Meeting
Block Watch Committee – Attending were Chris Romero, Peggy Pletcher, Cerina Robb, Sarah McGiffert, and Marilyn Davis.

Chris went over minutes from HOA meeting held on
ü Sarah confirmed the alignment with the HOA and Block Watch Committee is as follows:

Sarah will act as liaison and sponsor.
ü Sarah brought up discussion that a parent had a missing child for a short period of time. It was suggested that maybe the sheriff could come to the neighborhood to give a “scare” talk to the neighborhood children and that this may fall under the area of the Block Watch Committee. It was not decided whether Block Watch Committee was to proceed in this area at this time.
ü Chris passed around literature that he had obtained from USAonWatch.org. Chris also presented the car and home decals.
ü Cerina and Peggy both suggested that we needed to finalize our definitions of a Block Watch Captain.
ü Chris and Cerina handed out a flyer announcing “Education Day” to jump start the Block Watch Program:
Ø Cerina wanted the decals handed out at this function instead of mailed;

Chris suggested flyers be placed on each house

Ø Peggy thought it would be a good idea to set up a table with lemonade at Saturday’s soccer game at the elementary school to hand out information about the Block Watch Committee. Both Cerina and Peggy will work the table.

Sarah to ask Sheriff Greg Harrison which Sunday

Ø Sheriff Harrison will be asked to give a 5 minute speech about Block Watch and/or neighborhood/community policing;
Ø Chris to get HEB involved;
Ø Child ID kits will be available to hand out to parents; and
Ø Etching will be available for cars.
ü Discussion was held and changes were made to Block Captain and Participants responsibilities.
ü Chris’ main goal is to make National Night Out on August 2nd a big success.
ü Cerina Robb was voted in to co-chair with Chris Romero of the Block Watch Committee.
